While most of the country feels a sense of relief now that criminal illegal aliens will finally being removed, Washington intends to remain a defiant sanctuary state.
The state of Washington has seen increased crime the past several years and Seattle residents have been particularly victimized. Seattle leaders embraced the defund-the-police movement and reduced criminal penalties. The state continues to release criminals onto the streets.
Illegal immigration has caused problems from increased crime and support expenses to overcrowding and overburdening schools.
Although several school districts are suffering with overcrowding and budget shortfalls, the state wants to protect illegal immigrants to the detriment of taxpaying American families.
In recent school district messages, the guidance from OSPI is to disregard federal immigration law and instead directs schools to train students how to not comply with the law.
Guidance issued by Superintendent Reykdal explains how Washington intends to handle illegal immigration issues based on Washington law rather than federal law.
“Further, Washington public schools must not initiate engagement with federal immigration authorities for the purpose of sharing student information. It is inconsistent with our state and federal constitutional mandates to serve every student,” the guidance reads.
More money will continue to go to illegal immigrants regardless of many needs evident across the state from crime prevention efforts to economic investment to education.
Governor Bob Ferguson (D) signed an executive order committing Washington resources to the families of those illegal immigrants being deported, The Center Square reports.
The order directs Department of Children, Youth & Families to provide support to children separated from their parents. Ferguson announced his new order at a center run by El Centro de la Raza.
“We will stand up for your rights, we’ll protect your freedoms,” Ferguson told the audience. “That’s central to who we are, and we will continue doing that.”
Defying the President
Immediately after the election of President Donald Trump (R) then Governor-elect Ferguson announced his intention to challenge the President’s efforts to remove illegal aliens and restore order to cities and states around the nation, Washington Standard reported.
As Attorney General, Ferguson sued the last Trump administration almost 100 times. Newly elected Attorney General Nick Brown (D) is likely to carry the practice forward. Ferguson said he has been preparing for over a year for a potential second Trump presidency.
Former Governor Inslee (D) praised the work of Ferguson and Brown.
“Whatever happened in the presidential race, it’s not going to turn us around,” Inslee told the outlet. “We’re not going to be slowed down in our effort for justice for our people.”
People Want Protection from Crime
Most Americans support law enforcement’s effort to reduce crime and remove illegal immigrant criminals. Washington state defies the federal law and rejects the pleas of citizens who are tired of fearing victimization.
While elected leaders in the state of Washington challenge federal efforts and refuse to cooperate with federal law, they also seem indifferent to the wishes of their own citizens. Washington residents voted in favor of Initiative 2081, the parents bill of rights yet Democrats in Olympia are seeking to undermine it this legislative session.
House Bill 1296 is described as a bill to promote a “safe and supportive public education system.” The bill goes on to explain that related to safety of children is the need for minors to have “privacy rights” and protections for the “unique challenges and needs faced by transgender students and gender expansive students.”
Like many other bills coming out of the Olympia, the focus is on gender issues and gender ideology in the classroom.
Initiative 2081 gave parents the right to opt out of sex education for their children. Parents across the country have been objecting to the radical sexual instruction their young children are receiving in public schools.
Washington state legislators remain defiant and determined to teach a radical sexual agenda to elementary school children.
The initiative has been under attack since it passed, however, the parents bill of rights won a court battle at the end of January, The Center Square reports.
The Silent Majority Foundation successfully protected I 2081 in a legal battle where the Judge sided with the parents bill of rights. Although the legislature will continue to chip away at it, the parents bill of rights remains in place at this time.
“As Washington State Legislature is continuing to come for your kids, it is imperative that we stand together as a united front for parental rights,” founder and general counsel, Pete Serrano, said in a Substack post. “We won’t compromise on the rights of Americans to have access to critical information about what is taking place in their child’s school.”
The victory is significant for the people, and particularly parents, of Washington. There are likely to be further battles as Washington state leadership remains defiant and determined in their own far Left agenda.
